Real Life Stories
Senior Trainer and IQA
Deb started at SCL in October 2020 and loved the opportunity to be involved in setting up the curriculum as she loves helping to get things off the ground.
Deb has been teaching in FE for over 30 years and it was a natural progression over the years to become involved in work-based learning as an assessor, IQA and manager. She thoroughly enjoys her role as she loves to teach and is passionate about every aspect of management and business. She loves combining her twin loves of teaching and management by teaching management.
Deb’s favourite thing at SCL is working with the learners and making sure they achieve their targets.
Deb’s favourite subject to deliver and assess is management - especially change management, emotional intelligence and inclusivity; particularly helping to get women into management.
Deb has been impressed by the commitment shown from learners wanting to complete their apprenticeship qualifications even in this difficult climate.
Being able to adapt to the learners’ and employers’ needs through these uncertain times is difficult but Deb and the rest of the team have demonstrated the drive to help learners achieve and develop.
We asked Deb:

She is proud of what her team has achieved - it was a complete team effort.

What is the best thing about working for SCL?
The people are helpful and approachable and getting to know everyone across the business is a pleasure.
